Prof. Diego Serrano graduated in Medicine, with a specialization in Hygiene and Epidemiology, at the University of Trieste, he obtained a Master of Science diploma in Medical Statistics at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. He was a medical director in the scientific direction of the INMI Lazzaro Spallanzani in Rome. His main areas of research concern the role of infectious agents as a cause of cancer (in people with HIV/AIDS and solid organ transplant recipients) and cancer prevention (in particular, lifestyle habits, and environmental and occupational risk factors). He directs the tumor registry of Friuli Venezia Giulia.
