Dinesh Gupta holds a Ph.D. from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, India, and is currently the Group Leader of Translational Bioinformatics at the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB). He served as a Staff Research Scientist at Malaria Group, ICGEB, New Delhi (1998–2004), the World Health Organization Fellow at Sanger Centre (2001), the World Health Organization Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania, USA (2001–2005), the Coordinator of WHO/TDR Regional Training Centre for Bioinformatics at ICGEB (2001–2005), a Member of the Scientific
Working Group, Bioinformatics Initiative, TDR/WHO (2001–2005), and a Staff Research Scientist at the Structural and Computational Biology Group, ICGEB (2005–2016). The scientific interests of his Group include the development and application of artificial intelligence-based methods to address complex biological data classification problems; computer-aided drug design, including molecular modeling, molecular dynamics, homology modeling, virtual screening and cheminformatics for lead identification; the application of comparative genomics methods to identify novel drug targets and gene expression regulatory elements like miRNAs and transcription factors; applications for Systems Biology for
translational bioinformatics; the computational and statistical analysis of NGS (Next Generation Sequence) data and the development of biological databases and algorithms.
