Prof. Dr. Hadi Youssef Kanaan received his diploma in electromechanical engineering from Saint-Joseph University of Beirut (USJ), Beirut, Lebanon, in 1991, a PhD in electrical engineering from the École de Technologie Supérieure (ETS), Montreal, QC, Canada, in 2002, and a Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches (HDR) degree from the Université de Cergy-Pontoise, Paris, France, in 2010. He is currently a full professor and director of the Doctoral School of Sciences, Engineering and Technology at USJ and an adjunct professor at ETS, Canada, His research interests concern the modeling and control of switch-mode converters, modern rectifiers, power-factor correction, active power filters, and renewable energy systems' grid connectivity. He has co-authored 1 book, 3 book chapters, 1 patent, and more than 275 technical papers in international journals and conferences. He is currently an associate editor of the IEEE Journal of Emerging and Selected Topics on Industrial Electronics (JESTIE). He is an AdCom member-at-large of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IES), the chair of the IEEE Lebanon Section, and a member of the IEEE Power Electronics Society (PELS), the IEEE Industry Applications Society (IAS), the IEEE Education Society, and the IEEE James H. Mulligan, Jr. Education Medal Committee. He is the recipient of the 2023 IEEE-IES Bimal Bose for his contribution to the modeling and control of power electronics converters for power quality and renewable energy applications.
