Valerio Mariani received his Ph.D. degree in automatic control from the University of Sannio, Benevento, Italy in 2014, and is an Associate Member of IEEE. He was a guest Ph.D. student with the Microgrid Research Program, Department of Energy Technology, Faculty of Engineering and Science, Aalborg University, Aalborg, Denmark. He worked for many years in Industry, mainly automotive, and then became a Research Fellow at the Department of Engineering, University of Sannio. Currently, he is a Researcher at ENEA – Italian National Agency for Energies, New Technologies and Sustainable Economic Development. His research topics mainly include power system management, microgrid optimization, drones, path planning, control systems and model predictive control.
Amedeo Buonanno received his Laurea degree (MS) in Computer Engineering in 2004 from the University of Naples Federico II. From 2006 to 2019, he worked at the R&D Laboratory of Esaote S.p.A as an Industrial Researcher and Software Engineer. In the summer of 2008, he was a visiting researcher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Senseable City Lab). In January 2016, he received his Ph.D. in Electronic and Computer Engineering from the Second University of Naples. Since December 2018, he has been working as a Researcher at ENEA (Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development) in the Department of Energy Technologies and Renewable Sources. His research interests are in the areas of machine learning, deep learning, reinforcement learning and probabilistic graphical models. He is a member of the Neural Networks Technical Committee of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society and a member of the IEEE Signal Processing Society.
Dr. Giorgio Graditi, PhD in Electrical Engineering, has been the General Director of ENEA, the Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development since March 2023. He has held various positions including that of Director of the Department of Energy Technologies and Renewable Sources and he is responsible for ENEA initiatives for the National Recovery and Resilience Plan and national and European projects on energy topics. Since April 2019, he has been the President of MEDENER, the Mediterranean Association of National Agencies for Energy Management for Energy Efficiency and the Development of Renewable Energy Sources; since May 2019, he has been the Coordinator of the Scientific Technical Committee of National Energy Technological Cluster funded by the Italian Ministry of University and Research and the vice-coordinator of the Joint Programme on Smart Grid within European Energy Research Alliance (EERA). In 2017, he received the Italian National Scientific Qualification as a Full Professor in electrical energy engineering. His main research interests are in power systems; micro grids and smart grids; multi-energy hub systems; renewable energy sources; energy communities; energy storage; technologies and uses of hydrogen. He is an associate editor and a member of the editorial and advisory boards of scientific journals.
Dr. Maria Valenti received her Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Systems Engineering and her MSc degree (cum laude) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Napoli (Italy). She received a Master’s in Business Administration Degree from the Stoà Business School (Italy). Between 1999 and 2008, she worked in the telecommunications sector as a Product Manager on value-added services in mobile and fixed communication. Since 2009, she has been a Researcher at the ENEA Energy Technologies Department, and since December 2018, she has been leading the Smart Grid and Energy Network Laboratory. Her main research interests include power systems design and control, micro-grids and smart grid application, and energy performance analysis. She has participated in several European Union and national projects. She is a reviewer for international journals and a member of scientific committees. She has supervised master's theses and international fellowship programs. She is the author of many scientific papers published in the proceedings of international conferences.
