Dimitrios-Rafail Kalompatsios received a bachelor's degree in chemistry from University of Ioannina, Department of Chemistry, and a master's degree in toxicology from the University of Thessaly, Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. studies at the latter university, Department of Food Science & Nutrition, in the field of "valorization of by-products in the food industry." He has served as an analyst in a chemistry and microbiology laboratory in a military unit and has participated in research projects on "Monitoring of environmental and epidemiological parameters to which public health is exposed" and "Development of biofunctional mineral waters with the addition of extracts of industrial by-products."
