Prof. Jun Gao earned his PhD degree in ecology and urban ecology from East China Normal University. He is currently the director of the National Field Scientific Observation and Research Station of Wetland Ecosystem in the Shanghai Yangtze River Delta Ecological Green Integrated Development Demonstration Zone, the executive dean of the Urban Development Research Institute of Shanghai Normal University, the deputy director of the school's academic committee, the head of the Environmental Science Postdoctoral Mobile Station, and the discipline leader of the Environmental Science and Engineering Doctoral Program. From 1997 to 2003, he served as the vice dean of the School of Urban and Tourism at Shanghai Normal University. From 2003 to 2018, he served as the vice president of Shanghai Tourism College and the vice dean of the School of Tourism of Shanghai Normal University. From 2018 to 2022, he served as the founding dean of the School of Environmental and Geographical Sciences. He is mainly engaged in teaching and research in plant geography, urban ecology, landscape ecology, national parks, and ecotourism.
