Prof. Xiaoling Gong is a professor and doctoral supervisor at the Department of Development, College of Fisheries and Life Sciences, Shanghai Ocean University. She is also the head of the national first-class “Biological Sciences” major. She completed her PhD studies in Agronomy at the College of Fisheries and Life Sciences, Shanghai Ocean University (2008). From 2016 to 2018, she went to Cornell University for a visiting scholar program. She is mainly responsible for teaching undergraduate students “Ichthyology” and
postgraduate students “Modern Genetics”. She has presided over or participated in more than ten “Ichthyology” courses and discipline and professional construction projects. She has won the Shanghai Ocean University “Fishermanship Award” (2018), “Outstanding Teacher” (2019–2020), and “March 8th Red Flag Bearer” (2019–2020) and other titles. She conducts scientific research activities in Population Genetics, Evolutionary Biology, and Biodiversity.
Dr. Changwei Shao is an associate professor at the State Key Laboratory of Mariculture Biobreeding and Sustainable Goods, Yellow Sea Fisheries Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences. He received his MSc in marine biology from the Ocean University of China in 2007, and then he worked on fish genomic analysis at Texas A&M University as a visiting scholar in 2008. He received his PhD in marine biology at the Ocean University of China (2012). From 2012 to 2015, he worked at the Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology as a JSPS fellow for three months per year and received another PhD in marine science. His research focused on fish genome sequences, genome resource development, molecular breeding, and fundamental issues in fish evolutionary biology.
