Lorenzo Cosmi is the Director of the SODc of Immunoallergology
of the AOU Careggi and Full Professor of Internal Medicine at the Department
of Experimental and Clinical Medicine of the University of Florence. He
received a degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Florence in
1995 and completed a specialization in Allergology and Clinical Immunology at
the university in 2000. In the 2001/2002 academic year, he joined the teaching
staff of the specialization school in Allergology and Clinical Immunology. He
served as a research grant holder at the Department of Internal Medicine,
Florentine University from 2001 to 2003 and as a Researcher at the Department
of Internal Medicine of the University of Florence from 2003 to 2004. Then, he
became a permanent researcher in the disciplinary field of MED09 (Internal
Medicine) at the Department of Internal Medicine of the University of
Florence. He took up service as an
Associate Professor of Internal Medicine at the Department of Experimental and
Clinical Medicine of the University of Florence in 2014 and obtained the
national scientific qualification (ASN) as a full professor (first level) in
sector 06B1-Internal Medicine in 2017. He was assigned, by AOU Careggi, the
function of temporary replacement and support of the owner of a complex
structure (deputy SOD director) in 2018. He spends much of his time researching
Immunology, Cell Biology, Interleukin 21, Cytotoxic T cells, and IL-2
receptors.
Stefano Del Giacco is a Professor of Medicine and of Allergy
and Clinical Immunology at the University of Cagliari, Sardinia, Italy. He is
the Head of the Allergy and Clinical Immunology, Unit at the University
Hospital “Duilio Casula” in Monserrato (Cagliari), Italy. He has been Visiting
Academic at the Imperial College London, UK, in 2011 and 2012. His research
interests vary within a wide range of topics in Allergy and Clinical
Immunology, but focus primarily on asthma (particularly on severe asthma, the use
of biologics in asthma, AIT in asthma, and asthma and psychiatric disorders),
urticaria, hereditary angioedema, and exercise-induced hypersensitivity
syndromes with focus on exercise-induced asthma and anaphylaxis. He is a PI in
several clinical trials in asthma and CSU. He has held several positions within
the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) of which he has
been a member since 1998. He is currently the EAACI President.
Ilaria Mormile is an Assistant Professor (R.T.D.A.) in the Department of Translational Medical Sciences, University of Naples “Federico II”, dedicated and engaged in scientific research in the field of Allergy, Clinical Immunology, and Rheumatology. She received an M.D. and a Ph.D. from the University of Naples Federico II. She is a member of the Italian Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (S.I.A.A.I.C.), the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (E.A.A.C.I.), the Italian Society of Rheumatology (S.I.R.), and Italian Society of Internal Medicine (S.I.M.I.). She is a Researcher in Internal Medicine and a specialist in Allergology and Clinical Immunology at the University of Naples Federico II. During these years, she has been responsible for writing research articles, and her work resulted in the publication of several papers in peer-reviewed journals and the presentation of reports at national and international meetings. She also plans and organizes laboratory activities, training and supervising graduate and undergraduate students. Currently, she is primarily involved in treating patients affected by different autoimmune diseases. She is also focused on the immunological mechanisms involved in allergic and autoimmune diseases, particularly studying bradykinin-mediated angioedema.
Francescopaolo Granata is Outpatient Specialist in
Allergology and Clinical Immunology at the A.O.U. “Federico II” of Naples. He
completed specialization with honors in Allergology and Clinical Immunology at
the University of Naples “Federico II” in 2002 and received a Research
Doctorate in Clinical Pathophysiology and Experimental Medicine at the
University of Naples “Federico II” in 2007. He served as a One-year
Postdoctoral Fellow at the Division of Clinical Immunology and Allergy at the
Johns Hopkins University and as a Professor of “Physiopathology of Allergic
Diseases” at the School of Specialization in Allergology and Clinical
Immunology of the University of Naples “Federico II” (Academic years 2011/2012
and 2012/2013). He worked as a Professor of “Clinical Immunology” at the Master’s
Degree Course in Medical Biotechnology (Academic years 2013/2014 and 2014/2015)
and Expert in the subject for the Scientific Disciplinary sector MED/09
(Internal Medicine) (From the academic year 2011/2012 to today) at the
University of Naples “Federico II”. He is a member of the Italian Society of
Allergology and Clinical Immunology (SIAIC), the European Academy of
Allergology and Clinical Immunology (EAACI), and the Italian Society of
Immunology, Clinical Immunology and Allergology (SIICA). His research interests
include respiratory allergies, bronchial asthma, conjunctivitis, atopic
dermatitis, urticaria, rhinitis, sinusitis.
Prof. Fabrizio Pane is currently a Professor at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Naples “Federico II”, he also serves as the Director of the School of Specialization in Clinical Hematology at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery and the Coordinator of the Ph.D. School in Medical Biotechnology of the University of Naples “Federico II”. Prof. Fabrizio Pane received his Degree in Medicine at the University of Naples in 1985 and then served as a "Visiting Fellow" at the Cancer Research Center in S. Louis in 1988. He then earned a Specialization Diploma in Clinical Pathology and Clinical Hematology in 1989 and 1993 respectively at the University of Naples. In addition, Prof. Fabrizio Pane is a member of the National Scientific Committee of the Italian Association against Leukemia and Hematology Section of the National Academy of Medicine. His research interests mainly include the molecular disorders of hemopoietic tissue tumors and biological therapies for leukemia and lymphomas.
Girolamo Pelaia is a Professor of Respiratory Medicine at
the Director of the School of Specialization in Respiratory System Diseases,
Magna Graecia University. He received his MD from the University “Magna Graecia”
of Catanzaro. He served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the School of Medicine of
Georgetown University from 1990 to 1992 and as an Internal Doctor at the Chair
of Respiratory Physiopathology of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of
Catanzaro, University of Reggio Calabria from 1993 to 1996. He worked as a
Pharmacology researcher at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the “Magna Græcia”
University of Catanzaro from 1996 to 2002 and as a confirmed Researcher of
Respiratory Diseases at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the same
University from 2002 to 2010. He has been a Director of the Complex Pneumology
Operational Unit, Mater Domini University Hospital of Catanzaro since 2017. He
is a member of the European Respiratory Society and the American College of
Chest Physicians.
Francesca Wanda Rossi is an Associate Professor at the
Department of Translational Medical Sciences, School of Medicine and Surgery,
University of Naples Federico II. She received a Doctorate in Clinical
Pathophysiology and Experimental Medicine from the Department of Clinical
Medicine, Cardiovascular and Immunological Sciences Research, University of
Naples Federico II. She is the coordinator of the Integrated Course of Clinical
Immunology and Allergy, Cutaneous and Venereal Diseases, Plastic Surgery at the
University of Naples Federico II and Tutor Coordinator with coordination and
synthesis activities for the different activities at the School of
Specialization in Allergology and Clinical Immunology, University of Naples
Federico II. Her research interests include rheumatic diseases, mast cells,
basophils, histamine, inflammation, eosinophils, immunoglobulin E, and clinical
immunology.
Prof. Dr. Massimo Triggiani is currently a Professor of Internal Medicine at the Department of Medicine at the University of Salerno. He received his Ph.D. in Cardiovascular Pathophysiology at the University of Rome La Sapienza in 1990, then served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Johns Hopkins University (1988-1991) and the University of Naples (1991-1996) respectively. After that, he served as an Assistant Professor (1998-2005) and then an Associate Professor (2005-2011) of Medicine at the University of Naples Federico II. Prof. Dr. Massimo Triggiani is also on the Executive Committee of the Italian Federation of Immunology, Allergy, and Clinical Immunology (IFIACI). His research interests mainly include mast cell activation and immunology.
Angelo Vacca is a professor of Internal Medicine at the
Department of Precision and Regenerative Medicine and Ionian Area–DiMePRe-J,
University of Bari Aldo Moro, Medical School. He is the Chief of the Clinica Medica
“Guido Baccelli”, Head of the Lab “Angiogenesis, Vascular Biology, and Myeloma
Microenvironment”, Coordinator of the Specialization Course of Emergency
Medicine, President of Telemedicine Research Centre at the University of Bari
Aldo Moro, and Consultant of Rector for the Health Area of the University of
Bari Aldo Moro. He received a PhD in Clinical Immunology from the University of
Bari Aldo Moro. His research interests include angiogenesis and tumor
progression (the measurement of microvessel areas in tumors; microvessel area as
progression marker; correlation with invasion and metastasis; bone marrow
angiogenesis and myeloma progression; and mechanisms of the induction of angiogenesis
by FGF-2, VEGF and Epo); multiple myeloma and related malignancies:
amyloidosis, cryoglobulinemia, IgG4 immunoproliferative syndromes, and POEMS
(clinical, cellular and immunochemical features; angiogenesis and tumor
progression; and polycenter, controlled chemotherapy/biological drugs studies).
Emanuele Vivarelli is a specialist in Allergology and
Clinical Immunology at the Careggi University Hospital in Florence. He obtained
an MD from Università degli Studi di Firenze in 2012. He took a part-time job
as a Clinical Allergist and Immunologist at the SYNLAB Italia. He trained at
the Immunology Clinic of the University of Florence, with which he continues to
collaborate. He is passionate about the diagnosis and treatment of primary
immunodeficiencies, systemic autoimmune diseases, and allergic diseases. His
research interests include respiratory allergopathies, food allergies, drug
allergies, systemic connective tissue disorders, systemic vasculitis,
autoinflammatory diseases, arthritis and spondyloarthritis, autoimmune
interstitial lung diseases, and primary and secondary immunodeficiencies.
Alessandra Vultaggio is a Researcher at
the Department of Experimental and Clinical Medicine of the University of
Florence. She has been working as an Assistant Professor for several years in
the Immunoallergology Unit of Careggi University Hospital (Florence). She
completed specialization as an allergist and clinical immunologist at the
School of Allergology and Clinical Immunology, University of Florence in 2003
and obtained PhD course in Clinical and Experimental Medicine from the
University of Florence in 2009. She is a Medical Specialist in Allergology and
Clinical Immunology at the Azienda Ospedaliero Universitaria Careggi. She
supervises the testing and provocation tests of adults with drug allergies;
administration of biological agents for allergic and immunological diseases;
and desensitization procedures in patients with reactions to biological agents.
