Dr Sandric Chee Yew Leong is a Senior Research Fellow at the St. John's Island National Marine Laboratory, Tropical Marine Science Institute, National University of Singapore. He received his Ph.D. degree at Soka University, Japan in 2004. He worked as an Associate Professor at the Nagoya University from 2007 to 2009. His research interests include understanding how environmental and climate change alter aquatic communities, the dynamics of harmful algal blooms, the physiology of bloom-forming species and algal toxins, the detection of bloom-forming species and their toxins, the sensing of algal blooms using advanced techniques such as autonomous vehicles, optical sensors, and molecular tools, and bioactive natural products derived from the metabolites of marine microalgae.
