Prof. Pantelis Angelidis has been a Professor of Bioinformatics & Digital Health with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Western Macedonia, Kozani, Greece, since 2008. He is a telecommunication and computer engineer by education. He has worked on Technology for Health projects in Europe, the U.S., and Africa for the past 30 years. He has published over 130 papers in international journals, conferences, and book chapters. He is the founder of Vidavo, a digital health start-up, and cofounder of Blockchain, a health (and more) Bbockchain start-up, both in Thessaloniki, Greece. He has patented three telemedicine devices and one data processing algorithm. He was a visiting professor at MIT Media Lab in 2009-2010 and again in 2015-2016. He is a visiting Professor at the UB Medical School, Barcelona, Kingston Un, UK, and DIKU/UCPH, Copenhagen. He is a Marshall Memorial fellow and an alumni of the Bodosaki Foundation. He is a Member of the Hellenic Innovation Network. He is active in turning research results into innovative products focusing on technologies for preventive health, personalized medicine, and active aging.
Prof. Markos G Tsipouras was born in Athens, Greece, in 1977. He received a Diploma in Computer Science from the University of Ioannina, Greece, in 1999, and an M.S. and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the same faculty in 2002 and 2008, respectively. He also received a Diploma in Natural Sciences from the Hellenic Open University in 2013. He has worked as a lecturer/assistant professor at various universities and technological institutes in Greece and was elected Associate Professor of Signal Processing at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the University of Western Macedonia, in April 2019, where he has served as Vice President since September 2020. He was also appointed Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the Department of Metabolism, Digestion and Reproduction, Imperial College of London in September 2021. He has collaborated in more than 25 European (3rd CSF, FP6, FP7, H2020) and Greek national research programs and currently supervises 6 research programs. He has published more than 150 articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals, conference proceedings, and book chapters, while he is co-author of one book and two patents (one national and one PCT). His research interests include digital processing of biomedical signals and images, medical informatics, data mining, fuzzy logic, decision support systems,and expert systems.
