Author Biographies

Dr. Vyacheslav Romanov is a Research Physical Scientist in the Geological & Environmental Systems Directorate at the National Energy Technology Laboratory, U.S. Department of Energy. He holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from University of Pittsburgh and a Ph.D. in Physics and Mathematics from Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. He has published over 40 papers in various journals. His research interests include geoscience, materials science, physics, and computational science.
Dr. Igor Haljasmaa is Senior Research Scientist (National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL)/ Battelle). He received a B.S. in Theoretical Mechanics and Applied Mathematics (Ural State University) and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering (University of Pittsburgh). His research interests include oil and gas wells plugging materials and technologies, viscous fluids in porous media, poroelasticity, non-Newtonian fluids, solid/fluid particle motion, and interaction with continuous media.
Dr. Yee Soong is a research chemical engineer in the Geological & Environmental Systems Directorate at the National Energy Technology Laboratory, U.S. Department of Energy. He received his B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from National Cheng Kung University in 1978 and his M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from Cleveland State University in 1982. He received his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh in 1986. His research interests include syngas catalysis, reaction kinetics, reactor engineering, hydrodynamics, solid-solid separations, enhanced oil recovery, CO2 capture/ CO2 sequestration, and recovery of Rare Earth Elements (REE) from coal and fly ashes.
