Dr. Ufana Riaz received her Ph.D. in 2007 from Jamia Millia
Islamia University, New Delhi, India, and has been working as an assistant
professor at the Department of Chemistry, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi,
India, since 2009. Dr. Ufana Riaz joined the Department of Chemistry and
Biochemistry at North Carolina Central University as an assistant professor in
2022. She is currently working in the field of conducting polymers. Her
research interests include the development of conducting polymers with outstanding
optoelectronic properties for their potential application in photocatalysis,
drug delivery, bio-imaging and corrosion protective coatings, computational
modeling of polymers to optimize their electronic structure via theoretical
approaches, microwave-assisted solid-state polymerization reactions,
degradation of organic pollutants, and polymer intercalation in clays. Her
major thrust is on the development of advanced functional materials via green
routes, which could be used in biomedical applications and also in
environmental remediation. She has published more than 200 papers in journals of International repute.
