Prof. Giuseppe Passarino, PhD, Professor of Genetics at the University
of Calabria, is the current President of the Italian Association of
Geneticists. He has previously worked at the University of Pavia, the
University of Leiden in the Netherlands, and at Stanford University
Medical School, California. He has worked in the fields of mitochondrial
DNA and Y chromosome variability at the University of Pavia and the
University of Leiden. Between 1999 and 2022, he was an associate
researcher at the School of Medicine at Stanford University, California,
where he participated in the redefinition of the evolutionary history
of Homo sapiens through the study of the Y chromosome and mitochondrial
DNA. Since 2002, he has been a professor of genetics at the University
of Calabria, where he started the laboratory of the Genetics of Ageing and
Longevity. He has been involved for several years in national and
international projects in the study of aging and longevity, both as a
partner and as a coordinator. His current research includes
epigenetics, aging, and population genetics.
