José A. Lupiáñez has been head of the investigation group entitled “Drugs, Environmental Toxics and Cell Metabolism” since 1989. He has participated in 45 projects since 1973, financed by the Spanish Education and Science Ministry (CAICYT, CICYT, DGICYT, and other National Programs as AGL, PPT, INTERCONECTA, CellBioTic, FUC and SAF); different agencies for international Cooperation (NIH, USA; European Community, Fair Program, CONICYT Chile) and the Regional Government of the Junta de Andalucía. He has been the principal investigator of 27 projects since 1980, financed by the Spanish Education and Science Ministry (CAICYT, CICYT, DGICYT, and other National Programs as AGL, PPT and INTERCONECTA); different agencies for international cooperation (European Community, Fair Program) and the Regional Government of the Junta de Andalucía. His research topics mainly
include glucose metabolism and its regulation; enzimology and kinetics; metabolism and evolution; cell growth: protein synthesis and degradation; cell proliferation and apoptosis; cancer, metastasis, and angiogenesis; oxidative stress; genomics, proteomics, and metabolomics.
