Prof. Xuesheng Zhao is a professor and doctoral supervisor and is currently working at the School of Earth Science and Surveying and Mapping Engineering, China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing), Beijing, China. He received a bachelor’s degree in mine surveying from Shandong Mining University and a master’s and doctoral degree in engineering from China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing) in geodesy and surveying engineering. He was engaged in mine surveying and mapping research at the Shengjian Coal Mine in Daizhuang, Shandong, and was a visiting scholar at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the University of Cincinnati. His research interests include digital geospatial modeling, spatiotemporal GIS theory and methods, and remote sensing image fusion and analysis. He has published more than 150 papers in domestic and foreign academic journals and four monographs. He has won 3 provincial and ministerial science and technology progress awards and invented two patents. He has served on more than 30 projects, including key projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, general projects, special projects of the National Key R&D Program, and corporate commissioned projects.
Prof. Wenbin Sun, professor, doctoral supervisor, and director of the Department of Remote Sensing and Geographic Information, School of Earth Science and Surveying and Mapping Engineering, China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing), Beijing, China. He is a member of the Digital Energy Professional Committee of the Chinese National Committee of the International Society for Digital Earth and the Education Committee of the Beijing Society of Surveying and Mapping. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in surveying and mapping engineering from Southwest Jiaotong University in 2000 and 2003, respectively, and his doctorate in cartography and geographic information engineering from China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing) in 2007. He was a visiting scholar in the Department of Geography at the University of Cincinnati from 2014 to 2015. He is mainly engaged in research and development work in global discrete grid theory and methods, big data analysis applications, intelligent computing, GIS system design and development, etc. He has published more than 50 academic papers and serves as a reviewer for journals such as Environmental Science & Technology, the Journal of Cleaner Production, the Journal of Surveying and Mapping, and the Journal of Wuhan University (Information Science Edition).
