Ignacio Ferreira-González is currently an associate professor at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and, since 2020, is Head of the Cardiology Department at Vall d’Hebron University Hospital, Barcelona, ES. From 1997 to 2022 he trained as a clinical cardiologist at the Vall d’Hebron University Hospital and later completed a four-year training course in clinical research methodology and epidemiology, one of them at McMaster University in Canada. Upon his return from Canada, he delivered his doctoral dissertation on Composite Endpoints in clinical trials and then joined the Cardiology Department as a clinical cardiologist in 2007. He has coordinated several multicentre studies on the effectiveness, safety, and cost-effectiveness of cardiovascular interventions and many clinical research studies in several areas, including infective endocarditis. In addition to this, one of his passions has been research inmethodology, which has been developed in the context of the “CIBER Epidemiology and Public Health” network, in which he is the coordinator of group 8. He has subspecialised in valvular and pericardial diseases, with areas of knowledge fully consolidated in the department.
Jose F. Rodriguez-Palomares graduated in 1999 from the University Miguel Hernández (Alicante, Spain) with an Extraordinary Award Bachelor of Medicine. After that, he acquired cardiology and imaging training at Vall Hebrón Hospital (Barcelona, Spain). Later, he did a research fellowship at the Department of MRI and Cardiac-CT at Northwestern Memorial Hospital (Chicago, IL, USA). He pursued a Ph.D. in CMR at the Autonomous University of Barcelona with the qualification of “cum laude”. Since 2007, he has also been responsible for the education and training of the Residents and International Fellows in the field of CMR and CT at Vall Hebrón Hospital. He is currently the Director of the cardiac imaging department at Vall Hebron Hospital and an Associate Professor at the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona. He is a member of the European CMR exam board, Secretary of the nucleus of the Working group in aortic diseases and peripheral vessels of the European Society of Cardiology, past president of the Section of the Valve and Aortic Diseases from the Spanish Society of Cardiology, and, past coordinator of the CMR and CT Working Group of the Spanish Society of Cardiology. He has also participated in many important activities for the EuroCMR Section (abstract chair in CMR 2018, program chair in EuroCMR 2019, and abstract chair in EACVI 2020.
