Dr. Edmar Zanoteli currently serves as an Associate Professor at the Department of Neurology, Faculdade de Medicina FMUSP, Universidade de Sao Paulo, São Paulo, Brazil. He graduated in Medicine from Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo (1990), received a Master’s degree in Neurology from Universidade Federal de São Paulo (1996), and a Ph.D. degree in Neurology from the Federal University of São Paulo (2000). Dr. Zanoteli finished his Post-doctorate study at the Department of Biology and Tumor Cell at St Jude Children’s Research Hospital (2005-2008). He has experience in Medicine, with an emphasis on Neuromuscular Diseases. His main research areas include neuromuscular diseases, muscle biopsy, muscular dystrophy, rehabilitation, and myopathies.
Dr. Wilson Marques Jr currently serves as Full Professor of Neurology at the Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto, University of São Paulo (São Paulo, Brazil). He received his PhD degree in Neurology from the University of São Paulo (1994) and his postdoctoral degree from the Institute of Neurology, London University (1997). He was Coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Neurology at FMRP-USP for 8 years (7 CAPES grade) and Head of the Department of Neurosciences and Behavioral Sciences at FMRP-USP for 4 years. He is the current Head of the Department of Neuroscience and Behavioral Sciences and the current Coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Neurology. He works in the Neuromuscular Diseases and Neurogenetics group. He is responsible for the Clinical Neurophysiology Laboratory at HCFMRP-USP, the Neurogenetics sector and the DNA Laboratory of the Applied and Experimental Neurology Laboratory (LNAE). His main area of interest is peripheral neuropathies (clinical, neurophysiological aspects and molecular biology), in particular the neuropathy of Hansen’s disease and hereditary neuropathies (Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, amyloidosis, hereditary motor neuropathies). Currently, he also serves as Researcher 2 at CNPq, the Coordinator of the DC of Peripheral Neuropathies at the Brazilian Academy of Neurology, and the Teaching Coordinator at the Peripheral Nerve Society.

Dr. Marcondes C. França currently serves as an Associate Professor at the Department of Neurology, University of Campinas (São Paulo, Brazil), where he leads the neuromuscular and neurogenetics groups. He is a clinical neurologist with a particular interest in neurogenetic disorders. He obtained his PhD degree in 2008 working on peripheral nervous system involvement in SCA3 at the University of Campinas (UNICAMP) in Brazil. Dr. França is currently the director of the neuromuscular and neurogenetics research groups at this university. He runs large neuromuscular and neurogenetics clinics that include patients with motor neuron diseases, peripheral neuropathies, myopathies, spastic paraplegias, and ataxias. His research interests focus on the characterization of the natural history of these diseases, the identification of non-motor manifestations, and the search for modifier genes.
