Prof. Paolo Fornasiero obtained a degree in Chemistry in 1992, and a PhD in heterogeneous catalysis in 1997, both from the University of Trieste (Italy). This was then followed by a one-year post-doctoral at the Catalysis Research Center of the University of Reading. In 2016, he was a Full Professor in Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Trieste. He is an Associate Researcher of the National Council of Research (CNR), and since 2008, he has been the scientist responsible for the CNR Research Unit associated with the Institute of Chemistry of OrganoMetallic Compounds (ICCOM) of Florence and is located at the University of Trieste-Department of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences. He is also a member of the Academia Europaea and the European Academy of Sciences. He was awarded the 2022 Malatesta Medal in Inorganic Chemistry (Italian Chemical Society), 2018 Maria Teresa Messori Roncaglia and Eugenio Mari Award (Accademia dei Lincei), 2016 IACS Heinz Heinemann Award in Catalysis (International Association of Catalysis Societies), 2013 Chiusoli Gold Medal in Catalysis (Italian Chemical Society), and 2005 Nasini Gold Medal in Inorganic Chemistry (Italian Chemical Society). His research interests include material chemistry, with attention to the design and development of multi-functional metal-oxide nanosystems for their advanced applications in energy-related material science and environmental heterogeneous catalysis.
