Rita de Oliveira earned, from Technical University Lisbon, her B.Sc. in Sport Sciences and M.Sc. in Psychology in Sport and Exercise. She obtained her Ph.D. in Human Movement Science at VU University Amsterdam. She is an Associate Professor in the School of Applied Sciences at London South Bank University (LSBU) where she also leads the University Ethics and Integrity Committee and the School's Postgraduate Research degrees. Previously, she worked as a researcher in Sport and Exercise Psychology at Royal Holloway, University of London, the German Sport University, and the VU University Amsterdam. Additionally, she serves as the General Secretary for the European Federation of Sport Psychology (FEPSAC) and as a member of the British Association for Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES) Public Advisory Board. Her research focuses on the temporal and spatial aspects of visual information and action, and she uses multidisciplinary methods to investigate both fundamental and applied questions. Topics of interest include calibration, expertise, and environmental affordances and constraints to physical activity.
