Sandra Makwembere received her PhD in Industrial and Economic Sociology from Rhodes University in 2016. She worked as a Lecturer at the University of Limpopo (2016–2018). In 2019, she moved to Walter Sisulu University to assume a Senior Lecturer position, which she presently holds. Her research topics mainly include migration, disability inclusion, public policy and development, and social and economic justice.
