Prof. Dr. István Gaál is a professor at the Institute of Mathematics at the Faculty of Science and Technology, University of Debrecen. He used to be a vice dean at his faculty and a vice-rector of the university. His research interests include monogenity of number fields, power integral bases, diophantine equations, and constructive methods. He has published about 100 papers and 2 monographs. In 2021, he started a series of online conferences "Monogenity and power integral bases". He is the editor of Mathematica Slovaca, Acta Mathematica Academiae Paedagogiace Nyíregyháziensis, Publications Mathematicae, and academic editor-in-chief of JP Journal of Algebra and Number Theory. He is editor in chief of the local unit in Debrecen of Zentralblatt für Mathematik.
