Prof. Wei Fan is the Vice Chief of the Key and Open Laboratory of Remote Seining and Information Technology Application in Fisheries at the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences, committeeman of the Interface Application Professional Committee of the Fourth Space Navigation Society of Shanghai, director of the Infrared and Remote Sensing Society of Shanghai and the Member of Fisheries Society of Shanghai and Fisheries Society of China. His main research field is the application of fishing ground oceanography of satellite remote seining and interface information technology on fisheries. He is in charge of or participating in more than 10 research projects such as the 863 Program of State Science and Technology including “the task of information application and service system and demonstration for squid fishing ground in North Pacific”, undertaking the design of the general precept for forecasting the fishing conditions of squid in the North Pacific and establishing the method of integration technology combined between the illation technique of intelligent exemplification and GIS. He has been awarded one of the first-class prizes for national scientific and technological progress, one of the second-class prizes of scientific and technological progress in the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences, and one prize for the new achievement of ocean innovation in the National Bureau of Ocean. He has written and published over 20 papers in scientific journals at different levels.
