David Sebastián Puma Benavides is an automotive engineer with a distinguished academic and professional background in the field of electric and hybrid vehicles. He holds a Ph.D. in Engineering Sciences with a specialization in Electric and Hybrid Vehicles from the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM), as well as a Master's degree in Automotive Engineering from the same institution. Additionally, he is currently pursuing an MBA specializing in quality and productivity at Universidad TecMilenio. He completed his undergraduate studies in Automotive Engineering at the Universidad de las Fuerzas Armadas (ESPE) in Ecuador. David has worked in various research and development roles with significant experience in international companies. He is currently a Senior Design Engineer at Schaeffler Powertrain Components for Electric Vehicles in Mexico. He also worked in Germany as an Assistant Researcher at PEM, focusing on the integration of powertrains in heavy-duty electric vehicles. In his career at CIMA (Research Center in Automotive Mechatronics) in Mexico, David led several significant projects, such as the GM PACE program for the development of personalized electric vehicles, and participated in student competitions like Baja SAE. His responsibilities included autonomy tests and problem diagnostics in electric vehicles, as well as the acquisition and analysis of data from standardized driving tests.
