Dr. Talita Antonia Furtado Monteiro is currently a senior researcher at the Evandro Chagas Institute. She received her master's degree in Biology of Infectious and Parasitic Agents from the Federal University of Pará in 2010 and her PhD degree in Virology from the Postgraduate Program in Virology (PPGV) at the Evandro Chagas Institute (IEC/SVS) in 2020. She has experience in the area of microbiology, with an emphasis on virology, working mainly on the following topics: biosafety, the rotavirus vaccine, Epstein–Barr virus, mumps, and chickenpox.
Dr. Rita Catarina Medeiros Sousa is currently an associate professor at the Federal University of Pará, where she teaches classes in infectious diseases and virology and develops research and extension activities at the Tropical Medicine Center and Faculty of Medicine. In 1993, she graduated in Medicine from the Federal University of Pará. In 1995, she received a medical residency in Infectious Diseases from the Hospital Universitário João de Barros Barreto/UFPA. In 1997, she received a specialization in biochemistry with an emphasis on molecular biology from the University Paris 7. Furthermore, she obtained a master’s degree in Medical Virology (1998) and a PhD in Virology (2002) from the Paris 7 University-Pasteur Institute. She is a collaborating researcher at the Evandro Chagas Institute—Respiratory Virus Laboratory. Additionally, she was president of the State Medical Residency Commission (CEREM-PA) from 2008 to 2014 and coordinator of the professional master's degree on Health in the Amazon (2011–2014) at the Tropical Medicine Center/UFPA. She is a teaching hospital evaluator (MEC). She has experience in the area of microbiology, with an emphasis on virology, working mainly on the following topics: influenza, other respiratory viruses, rabies, and HTLV.
