Prof. Dr. Yanglei Xu is an associate professor and master supervisor of Biomass Energy and Materials at Beijing Forestry University. She received her Ph.D. from Beihang University. She used to be an associate professor at Zhejiang Sci-Tech University. From 2016 to 2018, she worked as an engineer at China General Institute of Building Materials Research. She is mainly engaged in the research of biomass energy materials, especially in the direction of biomass micro-nano structure and energy harvesting materials has a solid research foundation.
Dr. Sheng Chen is an Associate Professor at the School of Materials Science and Technology, Beijing Forestry University since January 2022. Prior to this, he worked as a Lecturer in the same department from September 2020 to December 2021. Dr. Chen completed his PhD from Beijing Forestry University in Forest Products Chemical Processing Engineering in June 2020. During his doctoral studies, he was also involved in joint training for doctoral students at the Wisconsin Institute for Discovery, University of Wisconsin-Madison, from October 2018 to November 2019. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Forest Products Chemical Engineering (Pulping and Papermaking) from Beijing Forestry University in July 2015. Dr. Chen is highly focused on research in the deconstruction and functional utilization of lignocellulosic biomass. In particular, he has been working on understanding plant cell wall chemistry, and developing cellulose/lignin functional materials for various applications such as light/thermal management, energy harvest/storage, sensing, packaging, and water treatment.
Professor Feng Xu obtained her PhD degree from South China University of Technology in 2005. She worked as a visiting scholar at the Forest Products Laboratory, United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), from 2008 to 2009. In 2012, she received the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars award. Currently, she is a Professor at the College of Materials Science and Technology, Beijing Forestry University, an expert of the Special Government Allowance of the State Council, and a fellow of the International Academy of Wood Sciences. She is also a member of the Institute of Chemical Industry of Forest Products of the Chinese Academy of Forestry and a member of the Technical Committee of the China Cellulose Industry Association. Her research is currently focused on the isolation and identification of chemical components in wood, the development of biomass-derived functional materials, and green cellulose solvent.
