Dr. Adam M. Kaye earned his Doctor of Pharmacy at the University of the Pacific in 1995. Dr. Kaye is actively involved in the San Joaquin Pharmacists Association, where he has served four terms as its president, and the California Pharmacists Association. He is also an editorial advisor for the Pharmacist’s Letter, the Prescriber’s Letter, and the Pharmacy Technician’s Letter. In addition, he has been the co-author of the Ident-A-Drug reference book since the late 1990s and has co-authored numerous chapters on pain and anesthesia. He is also a member of the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists and the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, in addition to serving on the Advisory Board for the Pharmacist’s Letter. Dr. Kaye is also a consultant to various physicians, healthcare organizations, attorneys, and pharmacy technician educational training programs. He currently works at the Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmacy Practice, University of the Pacific. Research focus: pain management; opioid therapeutics; clinical pharmacology; patient safety; DUI-ambien driving; opioid driving; DUR; benzodiazepines; forensic pharmacology.

Dr. Alan David Kaye, MD, Ph.D., is a Professor within the Department of Anesthesiology at LSU Health Shreveport and also serves as a Professor within the Department of Pharmacology, Toxicology, and Neurosciences. Dr. Kaye received two BS degrees and an MD degree from the University of Arizona. He was a national finalist for a Rhodes Scholarship, Honors Student of the Year, Who’s Who, Phi Beta Kappa, and Outstanding Graduating Senior in his class. He is board-certified as a consultant in anesthesiology and has a special certificate in pain management from the American Board of Anesthesiology. He is also a diplomat of the American Board of Pain Medicine and the American Board of Interventional Pain Physicians. He was awarded first place in the National Student Research Forum as a resident and has authored or co-authored more than 200 abstracts, 800 manuscripts, and 250 book chapters in the fields of pharmacology, pain medicine, and anesthesiology. He serves on a number of national committees, including the National Board of Directors of the ASIPP and ABIPP. He is editor-in-chief of the journals Pain Physician and Current Pain and Headache Reports and is on the FDA Advisory Board on Anesthetics and Analgesics. He was previously an Associate National Board Examiner in Anesthesiology.
