Federico Marotta holds a BS in Molecular Biotechnology and a MS in applied Mathematics, both from the University of Turin, Italy. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Bioinformatics at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory in Heidelberg (Germany). His initial research interest was in population genetics and gene expression regulation. At Embl, he works on structural biology and metagenomics from a bioinformatic standpoint.
Prof. Min Wu is Professor at the College of Life Sciences, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou 310058, China. He graduated from the Department of Biology of Xinjiang University in 1982 and served as Associate Professor in the Department of Biology of Xinjiang Normal University from 1982 to 1995. In 1995, he moved to the College of Life Sciences of Zhejiang University and was promoted to Professor and Doctoral Supervisor. He is the Director of the National Experimental Biology Teaching Demonstration Center of Zhejiang University. He recently led the “Survey of Microbial Diversity and Resources in Chinese Lakes, National Science and Technology Basic Resources Program, China” project. He has published more than 130 papers in various journals. His teaching disciplines include life sciences and biotechnology, and his interests include environmental microbiology, microbial ecology, microbial evolution, and microbial resources in extreme environments.
