Author Biographies

Dr. Juana María González-Rubio is a scientific researcher at the Legionella Reference Laboratory at the National Centre for Microbiology, Instituto de Salud Carlos III, Spain. She completed her PhD studies at the School of Medicine, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Spain. Dr. González-Rubio leads the laboratory's research into the characterisation of biofilms and the development of new techniques for the characterisation of Legionella. Her research work has been published in numerous international journals and presented at numerous conferences. Her teaching disciplines include Legionella characterisation, biofilms, pathogenesis, virulence, and NGS.

Fernando González-Camacho is Head of the Legionella Reference Laboratory at the National Centre for Microbiology, Instituto de Salud Carlos III, Spain. He is currently leading the project 'Search for pathogenicity biomarkers in Legionella spp with predictive interest in infection risk'. His research interests include biofilms, virulence factors, pathogenesis, and host–pathogen interaction.
