Author Biographies

Rui Bao received her Master's degree in mechanical engineering from the China University of Petroleum (East China) in 2019 and is now pursuing a PhD in mechanical engineering. She worked as a completion assistant engineer at COSL (2019–2020). In 2020, she moved to the China University of Petroleum (Beijing) and was granted admission to a PhD program. Her research topics mainly include residual stress in composite materials; mechanical analysis of flexible risers; strength failure.
Junpeng Liu received his PhD in Ocean Engineering from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in 2017. He worked as a professor at the China University of Petroleum (Beijing) (2022–now). In 2022, he moved to the National Natural Science Foundation of China and was promoted to Director of the Mobile Program. His research topics mainly include design theory and methods of marine risers; marine structure detection and monitoring technology and equipment.
Zhongmin Xiao received his PhD in Engineering Mechanics from Rutgers University. He worked as an assistant professor at Nanyang Technological University (1991–now). His research topics mainly include additive manufacturing technology (3D printing); nano and micro mechanics of composite materials, elastic–plastic fracture mechanics of aerospace materials and other advanced engineering materials, failure analysis for offshore pipelines and structures.
Sunil C. Joshi received his PhD from Monash University in 1999. He worked as an assistant professor at Nanyang Technological University (2000–now). His research topics mainly include numerical simulation and optimization of composites manufacturing processes; polymer blends and thermo-sensitive hydrogels; design, analysis and testing of thermal controls for micro-satellites; fiber-reinforced and other composites
