Dr. Jamie Hartmann-Boyce is an Assistant Professor at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She graduated from Tufts University in 2006, obtained a Master's degree at Oxford Brookes University in 2013, and received a PhD degree at the University of Oxford in 2016. She served as a Development Editor, Science, and Medical at the Oxford University Press from 2008 to 2012; a Research Associate at the Department of Primary Health Care Sciences, University of Oxford, from 2012 to 2016; a Senior Researcher from 2017 to 2020; and a Departmental Lecturer and Co-Director of Evidence-Based Medicine DPhil Programme from 2020 to 2022. Her research mainly consists of applied evidence synthesis for health policy, including in the areas of tobacco control, electronic cigarettes, diet, physical activity, and management of long-term conditions. She has a particular interest in diabetes, having lived with type 1 diabetes since childhood. She works closely with Cochrane and leads several research programs focusing on smoking cessation and electronic cigarettes.
