John H Doonan is the Director
of the National Plant Phenomics Centre, and a Professor at the Institute of
Biological, Environmental, and Rural Sciences (IBERS), Aberystwyth University.
He has more than 30 years of experience in the genetics and developmental cell
biology of plants and fungi. Before joining Aberystwyth University, he was a
Group Leader at the John Innes Centre in Norwich. Previous to that, he worked at
the Robert Wood Johnston Medical School in New Jersey, USA, and obtained his
Ph.D. from Leeds University. He has combined state-of-the-art imaging with
genetics in both experimental model systems and crops to understand how plants
grow and respond to their environment.
