Shuiping Liu is a professor and Dean of the Department of Microbiology, School of Basic Medical Sciences, Central South University (CSU). Dr. Liu received his Ph.D. degree in Internal Medicine from CSU. After graduation, he has been engaged in teaching and scientific research in CSU for 30 years. He has successively served as a member of the Teaching Group of the Medical Microbiology and Immunology Committee of the Chinese Society of Microbiology, a member of the Medical Virology Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, a member of the Expert Committee of the National Medical Examination Center, an executive director of the Hunan Microbiology Society, and a visiting professor at the University of Virginia in the United States. He mainly engages in molecular virology research. His research interests focus on viral gene expression and regulation, and the pathogenesis of virus-associated tumors. He has deeply studied the mechanisms underlying how HBx-related LncMALAT1 promotes cell metastasis and how LncUA1 regulates HCV replication.
