Prof. Christos Vlachokostas is the Director of the Sustainability Engineering Laboratory (SEL) of the Energy Sector, Associate Professor, and Vice-Chairman of the Mechanical Engineering Department, (AUT), Greece. He has been involved in numerous (more than 45) EU research projects, dealing with the Sustainable Management of Energy Resources, Circular Economy, and Environmental Management. He is teaching/has taught Sustainability Engineering, Waste Management and the Circular Economy, the Management of Energy Resources, and Heat Transfer. He was also a visiting Professor for the lectures “Energy Strategies and Climate Change” and "Sustainable Consumption and Production" at the International Hellenic University. He has supervised more than 80 Diplomas and MSc Theses and has co-authored more than 150 publications in peer-reviewed journals, conference proceedings, books, and media (h factor 30, 3000 citations). Among others, he was the Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Gas Distribution Company Thessaloniki–Thessalia S.A and a member of the Committee for the Evaluation of Inventions of the Industrial Property Organization, the Coordinator for the Restoration of Lake Koronia on behalf of the Greek Government, a member of the Green Fund Board of Directors, a member of the Institute of Adults Continuing Education, and the Vice-President of the General Assembly of the Technical Chamber of Greece.

Dr. Alexandra V. Michailidou is a senior researcher at the Laboratory of Heat Transfer and Environmental Engineering of the School of Mechanical Engineering of Aristotle University Thessaloniki (A.U.T.) and a teaching fellow in the Department of Supply Chain Management of International Hellenic University (I.H.U.). She graduated in 2009 from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, AUT. In 2017, she received her Ph.D. from the same department. She was also a visiting professor in MSc Environmental Management and Sustainability at International Hellenic University. Since 2010, she has been involved in European- and Greek-funded research and innovation projects focusing on environmental engineering, environmental protection, sustainable development, and the circular economy in agriculture.
