Mr. Joaquín Sáez-Peñataro studied medicine at Miguel Hernández University, finishing his undergraduate studies in 2008 with an Extraordinary Career Award, and completed the MIR specialty in clinical pharmacology at Hospital Clínic de Barcelona (2011–2015). After the specialty, he worked as a European correspondent for the ECRIN (European Clinical Research Infrastructure Network) academic network between 2015 and 2018. Subsequently, in 2018, he joined the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona as a full-time specialist physician, with a permanent position. His activities as a specialist are mainly focused on the area of pharmacovigilance, especially hospital pharmacovigilance and vaccinovigilance. At Hospital Clínic, he has developed tutorial activities with medical residents (since 2022). Additionally, he has been a member and evaluator of the Research Ethics Committee since 2018. He has been an associate professor at the University of Barcelona since 2016. He has participated in several scientific committees, such as the Scientific Board of the ECRIN network. He is an external expert for the AEMPS, and he has collaborated with the Agency in the preparation of therapeutic positioning reports. He is also the secretary and part of the Executive Committee of the European Association for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics (EACPT). He is also involved in the Spanish Association for Clinical Pharmacology (SEFC) as the treasurer.
