Author Biographies

Prof. Dr. Mikhail Gorobetz, a graduate of Dr.sc.ing. in 2008, is a full professor and leading researcher at Riga Technical University Institute of Industrial Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Energy in the field of computer control of electrical transport. He has more than 15 years of experience in research on artificial intelligence methods and systems in transport tasks and about 10 years of experience in AI for autonomous vehicles and drones. He has led 8 national and 3 international projects and participated in various projects since 2006. Results of research activity are published in various international scientific proceedings and journals in fields of autonomous vehicles, drones, computer vision, optimization theory, adaptive control, neural networks, genetic algorithms, intelligent transport systems, evolutionary algorithms for embedded systems, and modelling and simulation of dynamic processes. He is an author of various study books and patented inventions. He is an expert of the Latvian Council of Science in the Engineering field (since 2012), a member of the program board of international conferences (since 2015), a member of International Society on Multiple Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) (2007-now), and a member of the Latvian Simulation Society (since 2006).
PhD student J. Timofejevs is a researcher at Riga Technical University, specializing in computer vision, machine learning algorithms, and autonomous systems, particularly in the context of autonomous vehicle control and sensor technologies. His work focuses on developing advanced algorithms for real-time processing and optimal control solutions, enhancing the precision and efficiency of embedded systems. His PhD research centered on creating self-learning algorithms for embedded computer vision devices, addressing the critical balance between decision time and precision. He has contributed to the fields of agricultural robotics, smart city technologies, and urban planning solutions through his involvement in various national and international projects. Results are published in various scientific publications.
Dr. sc. ing. Andrejs Potapovs is an associate professor at Riga Technical University Institute of Industrial Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Energy. He has more than a decade of experience researching adaptive control systems and algorithms, and around seven years in developing various sensor systems. He has contributed to over 10 national and international projects. His research has been featured in numerous international scientific proceedings and journals covering fields such as autonomous vehicles, drones, adaptive control algorithms and embedded systems, and intelligent transport systems. Additionally, he is the author of a study book and holds patents in Latvia and Europe.
Dr. Artjoms Obushevs is a scientific assistant at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences ZHAW School of Engineering. He completed his Doctor of Philosophy in Power and Electrical Engineering at Riga Technical University. Before this, he was a researcher at the Institute of Physical Energetics. His research interests include electricity markets, power systems, smart grids, phasor measurement units, and demand side management.
