Prof. Dr. Rubens A. da Silva is an Associate Professor at the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi (UQAC), and he is the actual director of the Physical Therapy program at UQAC. He has been a physiotherapist since 2000 (Tuiuti University-Brazil). He obtained his master's degree (2003) and a Ph.D. (2008) in Biomedical Sciences (Rehabilitation option) from the Université de Montréal. In 2008-2009, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Ottawa, Elisabeth Bruyère Institute (Geriatric care). In 2016, he was a postdoctoral senior fellow at the Florida International University (FIU, Miami, USA). He was the director of the LAFUP research laboratory at the UNOPAR University between 2009 and 2017. He is also an Associate Professor in the physiotherapy program at McGill University and has been an Associate Professor at Université UniEVANGÉLICA in Brazil (since 2022). Additionally, he is a regular researcher at the Centre Intersectoriel en Santé Durable-CISD, Lab BioNR-UQAC, and CIUSSS-SLSJ. His work has resulted in more than 150 scientific publications in peer-reviewed and indexed journals and more than 130 scientific communications, and he serves as the associate editor of the Journal Physical & Occupational Therapy in Geriatrics (Taylor & Francis). His research program focuses on the health of older people with and without neuro-musculoskeletal disorders, balance disorders, and fall prevention.
