After completing his PhD in Photochemistry in 1991, Prof. Dr. Gilles Mailhot has been a CNRS researcher since October 1992. He is now Research Director of the highest level at the Institute of Chemistry of Clermont-Ferrand (ICCF) and at the Laboratory of Physical meteorology (LaMP), of which he is also Director, two laboratories of the University Clermont Auvergne in France. He has been guest professor at the Fudan University in 2013 and 2014, and a Guest professor at the Wuhan University in 2019. He recently set up an International Associated Laboratory (IAL) with the University of Wuhan (China). He has co-supervised around thirty PhD students and is co-author of more than 210 scientific articles. He has coordinated a large number of national and international projects, including many with Chinese universities. His research activities focus on chemistry and photochemistry in aquatic environments, with applications in water treatment and atmospheric chemistry. He currently works in the field of water resource protection and management.
