Dr. Andrea Speltini is an associate professor of analytical chemistry at the Department of Chemistry (University of Pavia, Italy). His research interests focus on the preparation of new sorbents for separation science, namely sample treatment (extraction, clean up, and preconcentration), chromatography, and of new photoactive materials for photocatalytic processes. He is involved in the development and validation of analytical methods for the trace determination of organic compounds in complex matrices, including environmental, biological, and food samples, with a focus on the principles of green sample preparation. An additional topic concerns analytical environmental studies for the reuse of waste biomass to obtain green hydrogen gas from water via sunlight-driven photocatalysis, in the circular economy vision. The results of his research are gathered in more than 80 scientific publications and have been presented in several oral communications in national and international congresses.
Daniele Dondi graduated from the University of Pavia (Italy) in 2000. He obtained a Ph.D. in Chemistry in 2003 from the University of Pavia, Italy (Prof. A. Albini), with a study on photocatalysis. During his postdoctoral research at the Department of Organic Chemistry (University of Pavia), Dondi developed a new photocatalyst while he gained experience in photodegradation and computational photochemistry. In 2008, he became an adjunct researcher, and his research interest moved to radiation chemistry. Since 2016, Dondi has been an associate professor in chemistry. His main research interests are organic photochemistry and radiation chemistry, aimed at the study of reaction mechanisms. From 2008, he has worked on polymeric materials and studied the effect of radiation in grafting, curing, and degradation for applied research on fuel cells and tires. He acts as a reviewer for high-impact factor international journals of all major publishers: Wiley, RSC, ACS, and Elsevier.
