Dr. Oliver Mendoza-Cano is a full professor at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and leading investigator in the Environmental Epidemiology field of the University of Colima. He was also a Visiting Scientist at the Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health, leading the Program of Climate Change Adaptation and Nutrition Technologies from 2014 to 2016. He is a chemical engineer and obtained his D.Sc. in Medical Sciences at the University of Colima.
Dr. Agustin Lugo-Radillo is a researcher in Gerosciences and Molecular and Genetic Medicine. He currently holds a professorship at the National Council for Humanities, Sciences, and Technologies (CONAHCYT) in Mexico. Dr. Lugo-Radillo earned his MD from the University of Colima, Mexico, and subsequently pursued advanced degrees in the United Kingdom, achieving both an MSc and a PhD in Molecular and Genetic Medicine from the University of Sheffield. His professional journey includes pivotal roles such as a professor at the National Institute for Geriatrics in Mexico and a visiting professorship at the University of Colima. Dr. Lugo-Radillo's research spans several critical areas including aging, genotoxicity, psychological stress, healthspan, bioethics, degenerative diseases, and the development of novel pharmacological agents derived from phytocompounds. He is noted for his commitment to advancing biomedical gerontology and his leadership in managing a dynamic research team at the Faculty of Medicine of the Autonomous University of Oaxaca, where his lab is currently based.
Mónica Ríos-Silva received her PhD from the University of Colima in 2011. She has worked as research professor at the University of Colima since 2014. Her research topics mainly include chronic degenerative diseases such as diabetes mellitus, aging effects, and obstetrics complications. Her experience includes clinical, epidemiological, and preclinical studies with animal models.
Irma Gonzalez-Curiel received her undergraduate and doctoral degrees from the Autonomous University of San Luis Potosi in 2009 and 2015, respectively. She has been a researcher at the Autonomous University of Zacatecas since 2015 and was promoted to Head of the Immunotoxicology Laboratory in 2019. Her research focuses on immunotoxicology, environmental health, and occupational health. She is currently the Head of the Immunotoxicology Laboratory at the Chemical Sciences Academic Unit of the Autonomous University of Zacatecas. She has published 42 papers, presented at numerous conferences, and received the Science Award in the State of Zacatecas in 2023. Her research interests also include basic and clinical immunology.
Jaime Alberto Bricio-Barrios earned his Doctorate in Medical Sciences from the University of Colima (2017-20). He currently serves as a Full-Time Professor and Researcher at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Colima, where he also holds the position of Coordinator of the Master's Program in Clinical Nutrition. Additionally, he is a Professor in the Master's Program in Gerontology and a member of the National System of Researchers Level I (Area III: Medicine and Health Sciences; 2022-26). He is a founding member of the Civil Association Development of Aid with Research. With a diverse educational background, he has obtained multiple diplomas and conducted research stays both nationally and internationally. His professional experience includes teaching, private practice as a nutritionist, and participation in research projects. He has actively contributed to human development, training, and professional formation, as well as to the generation of scientific knowledge through numerous publications and conference presentations.
Arlette Andrea Camacho de la Cruz became a Doctor in Environmental Sciences at the Universidad Autónoma de San Luis Potosí, Master in Environmental Sciences at the Universidad Autónoma de San Luis Potosí, and Pharmaceutical Chemist Biologist at the Universidad Autónoma de San Luis Potosí. Current position: Postdoctoral researcher at the Universidad de Colima. Previous position: Posdoctoral researcher at the Centro de Investigación y Asistencia en Tecnología y Diseño del Estado de Jalisco, A.C. Unidad Noreste. Areas of expertise: environmental toxicology, environmental health, integrated risk assessment, and environmental analytical chemistry.
Dr. Herguin Benjamin Cuevas-Arellano is a Full-Time Professor at the University of Colima holding a tenured appointment at the Faculty of Science and is leading investigator in the field of environmental health and risk assessment. He obtained a BS in Biology from UMSNH (2002), and MS and PhD degrees in Environmental Health Sciences at the University of California in Los Angeles (in 2004 and 2007, respectively), as well as undergoing a post-doctoral internship in NASA’s post-doc program (NPP) in pursuit of opportunities in the study of earth’s climate and ecology at NASA AMES Research Center during 2007-2008. In 2009, he moved to the University of Colima taking a Full-Time Professor position and was promoted to Full-Time Professor-Researcher with a tenured appointment in 2024.
Dr. Ramon Solano-Barajas is a full-time professor and researcher at the School of Civil Engineering, University of Colima, Mexico. His fields of studies are satellite remote sensing and spatial analysis, with an emphasis on numerical modeling, multivariate analysis, and machine learning. He received a PhD degree in Environmental Science at the University of Arizona and an MSc in Computer Science at Univesidad de Colima, and he became a Computer System Engineer at the Inst. Tech. de Colima.
M.S.c. Juan Manuel Uribe Ramos is a full-time professor and Head of the Geomatics Surveying Engineering program at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the University of Colima. He specializes in formulating studies on environmental restoration, the management and utilization of forest resources, territorial planning and management, and ecosystem service evaluation. He was accredited by the National Forestry Commission for the period 2012 - 2017. He holds a degree in Surveying Engineering and a Master of Science in Geomatics, and he is currently nearing completion of his Doctorate in Conservation and Restoration of the Natural Environment.
Dr. Hilerio-López Angel Gabriel is a full-time professor at the Faculty of Nursing of the University of Colima. He obtained his bachelor's degree in 2003, his master's degree in Medical Sciences (2007-2009), and his Doctorate in Education in 2023. He has been a full-time professor since 2015 and Director of the Faculty of Nursing since 2021. His research topics are related to chronic illness, older adults, health promotion, and education.
Alma Alejandra Solano-Mendoza received her Bachelor’s degree at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Colima and is currently in her second year of medical specialty in Internal Medicine at a second-level referral public hospital, the Civil Hospital “Dr. Juan I. Menchaca”, of the University of Guadalajara.
Efrén Murillo Zamora is a Medical Epidemiologist (University of Colima, Mexico), Master of Health Sciences (National Institute of Public Health of Mexico), and Doctor of Medical Sciences (University of Colima). He currently works as a Full-Time Researcher at the Clinical Epidemiology Research Unit (Mexican Social Security Institute) in Villa de Álvarez, Mexico. His research interests include the epidemiology of respiratory viral pathogens with pandemic potential, social and environmental epidemiology, and health metrics.
