Author Biographies

Dr. Wayne Robinson is a Wildlife Ecologist and Research Fellow at the Charles Sturt University. He earned his Bachelor of Applied Science from the University of Canberra in 1993, Master of Applied Science from the University of Canberra in 1996, and Doctor of Philosophy from Charles Sturt University in 2012. He has a background in data analysis and natural resource management themes and aims to develop management, monitoring and research techniques that can be employed in an environmentally, economically, and socially sustainable manner. During the last three decades, he has developed a high level of expertise in the experimental design and analysis of long-term monitoring of Australia's ecological resources. He has worked on multiple fisheries research projects in Lao PDR since 2012 and is currently employed as a specialist to monitor fish passage at current and future Mekong River mainstem hydropower stations. Research Interests include Fish passage, Large-scale ecosystem, Monitoring design, River health assessment, and Sustainable Mekong River fisheries.

Dr. Mark Lintermans is a Senior Research Fellow in Freshwater Ecology at the Centre for Applied Water Research, University of Canberra. He has >40 years of experience in freshwater fisheries research and management with specialist knowledge of the management and ecology of freshwater fish and crayfish, and strategic intervention and mitigation programs to deal with aquatic threats. He actively works with scientists, managers and industry to deal with specific threats or management responses to conserve freshwater fishes, particularly in southeastern Australia and the Murray-Darling Basin (where he managed the fish research portfolio for the Native Fish Strategy and was the fish theme coordinator for the Sustainable Rivers Audit). He is a national authority on the ecology, management and conservation of threatened fish, and the impacts and management of alien fish.
