Prof. Dr. Slawomir Wiak received a Ph.D. degree from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and a post-doctoral degree (habilitation) in 1979 and 1990. He currently serves as a Professor in the Institute of Mechatronics and Information Systems at Lodz University of Technology. He worked as the Dean of the Faculty of Electrical, Electronic, Computer and Control Engineering (2008–2012), and as the Rector for Education at Lodz University of Technology (2016-2020). Moreover, he was a member of the Foresight Programme, Poland 2020 (2012-2015), the Monitoring Committee of the Regional Operational Programme of Lodz Province (2014-2020), the Crisis Group of the Conference of Rectors Of Academic Schools in Poland (since 2020), and the Vice-Chairman of the IT Infrastructure Committee of the Conference of Rectors Of Academic Schools in Poland (since 2020). His research interests include computer science, physics and astronomy, and materials science.
