Dinara Baiskhanova: PhD student at the CAU Kiel. Performing the doctoral research project at the Laboratory of Molecular Gastroenterology and Tumor Biology, Institute for Experimental Cancer Research, Kiel, Germany (2022-present). Master of Science in Engineering (2015, L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, Astana, Kazakhstan).  Work experience in biomedical sciences, cancer research, cell biology, molecular biology, genetic engineering, microbiology. Research assistant at the BioPromService LTD, Astana, Kazakhstan (2012-2013). Junior researcher at the Center for Life Sciences, Nazarbayev University, Astana, Kazakhstan (2013-2015).  Junior researcher at the National Laboratory Astana, Nazarbayev University, Astana, Kazakhstan (2015-2021). Chief specialist at the Research Management Department, National Center for Neurosurgery, Astana, Kazakhstan (2021-2022). Current research interests: studying antioxidant metabolism; formation of metastases via EMT and MET; Nrf2, ferroptosis, mitochondrial functioning in pancreatic cancer cells.Awards: DAAD research grant – Doctoral programmes in Germany, 2022/23 (2022-present). Third-class scholarship of scientific and research works contest in the field of pharmacy on the project “Santo Academic Program” (2015). The Kazakhstani state scholarship for postgraduate studies (2013-2015). International internship in Prague, Czech Republic (IAESTE program, 2010). The Kazakhstani State scholarship for undergraduate studies (2006-2010).
Heiner Schäfer: Cell Biologist by training (1982-1989 at University of Göttingen, Germany), Doctoral Degree (PhD) in 1993, Post-Doc at the Medical University Hospital Kiel (1993-1999), Associate Professor at the Kiel University (Medical Faculty, 1999-2003) and Professor since 2004. Head of the Laboratory of Molecular Gastroenterology at the Medical University Hospital Kiel (1998-2015) and at the Institute of Experimental Cancer Research (Kiel) since 2016. Work Experience in NF-kB- and Nrf2-signaling, metabolic reprogramming and tumor-stroma interactions in pancreatic and colorectal cancer. Major research activity on Signal Transduction and Resistance Mechanisms in GI-cancers with the current focus on Nrf2 dependent metabolic reprogramming.
