Dr. Aleksandra Kocijan is the head of the Laboratory of Analytical Chemistry at the Institute of Metals and Technology Ljubljana. From 1997 to 2004, she received her BSc/MSc/PhD degrees in Chemistry at the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology, University of Ljubljana. From 1998 to 2004, she was a young researcher at the "Jožef Stefan" Institute. She is also a member of the Scientific Council at the Institute of Metals and Technology and is on the editorial board of the journal Materiali in tehnologije/Materials and Technology. Her scientific interests include research in the field of electrochemistry, analytical chemistry and surface characterisation, studies of corrosion and passivation of advanced metallic materials in various environments, surface characterisation of passive layers on the surface of advanced metallic materials, and studies of thin coatings on metallic materials for corrosion and biofouling control in biological environments.
