Dr. Roberto D. Fanganiello is a geneticist and stem cell biologist. Dr. Fanganiello is an Associate Professor and researcher in Regenerative Biology and Bioengineering at the Faculty of Science and Engineering of Laval University, in Québec City, Canada. Dr. Fanganiello is also the Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) of R-Crio Stem Cells, a cell technology laboratory and biobank headquartered in Sao Paulo, Brazil. He received a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Biology, with emphasis in molecular and cellular biology, from the Institute of Biosciences of the University of Sao Paulo, a Ph.D. degree in Human Molecular Genetics from the Department of Genetics and Evolution of the University of Sao Paulo, and the Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation of the Yale School of Medicine, and a post-doctoral degree in Tissue Bioengineering and Stem Cell-based Regenerative Medicine from the Institute of Biosciences and the Human Genome and Stem Cell Research Center of the University of Sao Paulo. His main areas of research are molecular genetics, biochemical pathways and cellular events underpinning human craniofacial dysmorphologies, genetic counseling for families with craniofacial syndromes, musculoskeletal/bone tissue bioengineering based on stem cells in association with biomimetic scaffolds and molecular dissection of stem cell differentiation signaling pathways.
