Reshma Kassanjee has a background in mathematical statistics and computational and applied mathematics, and she is passionate about applying these subjects to the field of epidemiology. Her doctoral work involved the development of methods for estimating HIV incidence using biomarkers for 'recent' infections (the South African Centre for Epidemiological Modelling and Analysis (SACEMA), Stellenbosch University), and her current work is focused on using observational data from HIV cohorts to inform individual- and population-level decision-making and global policy (Centre for Infectious Disease Epidemiology and Research (CIDER), University of Cape Town). Dr Kassanjee's interests in public health extend beyond infectious disease; she values collaborating on interdisciplinary projects requiring methodological rigour or innovation that have the potential to benefit vulnerable populations.
