Author Biographies

Ziyang Wang is a Project researcher in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Systems (EEIS) at the University of Tokyo. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in the field of EEIS from the University of Tokyo. His specialization lies in low-energy wearable air-conditioner development and thermal comfort assessment. His research interests include Low-energy wearable air-conditioner development; Physiological indices-based thermal comfort modeling; Electricity spot price forecasting; Other machine learning prediction models including small-hydro power generation prediction, and real-time/long-term car CO2 emission estimation.
Masahiro Mae is an assistant professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Systems, Graduate School of Engineering, The University of Tokyo, Japan. He received B.E., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees from The University of Tokyo, Japan in 2018, 2020, and 2023, respectively. He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan, the Society of Instrument and Control Engineers, the Society of Automotive Engineers of Japan, and the Japan Society of Energy and Resources. His interests are in multivariable control and data-driven learning for mechatronics and energy systems in industrial applications.

Ryuji Matsuhashi earned a Bachelor of Engineering degree from the Department of Electronics, Faculty of Engineering, the University of Tokyo in 1985, and a Doctor of Engineering in 1990 from the same department. He became an Associate Professor at the Department of Geosystem Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, the University of Tokyo in 1994 after serving as the Research Associate of the same from 1990 to 1993. Next, he became an Associate Professor at the Institute of Environmental Studies, Graduate School of Frontier Sciences, The University of Tokyo, in 1999. Next, he became a Professor at the same institute of the University of Tokyo, and has been since 2003. Then, he became a Professor at the Electrical Engineering and Information Systems, Graduate School of Engineering at the same university, in 2011. His intensive work in the analysis of energy systems and global environmental issues produced various books and papers. He is currently a member of the Japan Society of Energy and Resources, the Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan, and the Japan Institute of Energy. His research interests include energy and environmental systems.
