Dr. George P. Petropoulos (PhD, King’s
College, London, UK) is an Assistant Professor in Geoinformatics in the
department of Geography, Harokopio University of Athens, Greece. His
research focuses on the exploitation of technologically advanced EO sensors and
synergistic multi-sensor EO modelling and Geographical Information Systems
(GISs) for obtaining spatiotemporal estimates of key state variables. He is
author/co-author of more than 130 peer-reviewed journal articles and more than 40 book
chapters and editor/co-editor of six books published by Elsevier and Taylor
& Francis (citations: 6900, H-index: 46, h-10 index: 117 – Google Scholar,
08/04/2024). He has coordinated several projects (15+) funded by
international and national organizations, and he has developed fruitful
collaborations with key scientists in his area of specialization globally. His
research and teaching work has received international recognition via
several significant awards.
