Dr. Ragkousis graduated from the Medical School of National and Kapodistrian University of Athens with distinction (grade: 8.64/10 (Excellent)). He also graduated with a Master’s degree (MSc) in Ophthalmological Imaging from the Democritus University of Thrace Medical School; he was ranked first among the other postgraduate students, with distinction (grade 9.47/10 (Excellent)), being awarded a scholarship. Before the start of his specialty training, he was awarded a scholarship for the postgraduate internship program for junior doctors at the HYGEIA hospital in Athens, working as a postgraduate junior doctor at the ophthalmology department of the hospital. Dr. Ragkousis completed his training in Ophthalmology at the Korgialenio-Benakio Hellenic Red Cross Hospital in Athens. He is specialized in Medical Retina, having undergone advanced subspecialty training in the United Kingdom as a Medical Retina Fellow at the Liverpool University Hospital, Southampton University Hospital and Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. He has been awarded the title "Fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmology (FEBO)" after successfully passing the European Board of Ophthalmology (EBO) Diploma Examination in 2022. He is also a member of the Hellenic Ophthalmological Society and the European Society of Retina Specialists (EURETINA). Dr Ragkousis is currently a PhD researcher at the second Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Athens with a PhD topic on Genetics in Retinal Vein Occlusion.
