Nilton O. Rennó is a Professor of Space Sciences and Engineering (Ann Arbor, MI, USA). He graduated from Unicamp, Campinas, Brazil, with a Civil and Environmental Engineering B.Sc. He earned a Ph.D. in Atmospheric Sciences from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Since 2016, he has been a member of the National Academies Space Studies Board Org Committee for Searching for Life Across Space and Time. From 2014 to 2016, he was a Member of NRC Mars Special Regions Review Committee. Since 2014, he has been a Member of Northrop Grumann’s VAMP Science Advisory Board. His research interests mainly focus on aerosols and climate, astrobiology, instrument development, planetary science, systems engineering, and thermodynamics. He is a member of the Mars Exploration Rovers EDL Advisory Board and Mars Exploration Rovers Atmospheric Science Advisory Board. His awards include: 2015 NASA Group Achievement Award, 2013 NASA Group Achievement Award, 2013 The Space Foundation John L. “Jack” Swigert Jr. Award for Space Exploration as member of the Mars Science Laboratory Team, and etc.
