Author Biographies

Jorge Erick Otero-Olarra received his master’s degree in Chemical and Biological Sciences from the National Polytechnic Institute in 2019 and is now pursuing PhD in Chemical and Biological Sciences. He works as a teacher in the Genetic Engineering discipline at the National Polytechnic Institute (2022–Present). To date (2024), his work has resulted in three publications in different journals and two presentations at two different international congresses. His interests and research topics mainly include: integrons, microbial resistance, outer membrane vesicles and horizontal gene transfer.
Gilda Díaz-Cárdenas received his master’s degree in Chemical and Biological Sciences from the National Polytechnic Institute in 2017, her work has been published in two publications. Her interests are mainly microbial identification for phenotypic and genotypic methods, as well as the detection of foodborne bacterial pathogens based on PCR. Since 2019, she has been working as a food safety instructor, and through her social networks, she promotes food safety and quality management systems topics.

Abigail Pérez-Valdespino received her PhD in Chemical biological sciences from the National Polytechnic Institute, Mexico (IPN) in 2012. She worked as a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Connecticut, USA (2012-2015). In 2016, she moved to IPN and was promoted to research professor in 2019. Her teaching disciplines include Biochemistry and Genetic Engineering, and her interests include mobile genetic elements, integrons, plasmids, resistance genes and Aeromonas.
